breakfasts in bed

February 10, 2016

poached pear baked oatmeal | two red bowls

Can every year be one where the Super Bowl, Lunar New Year, and Mardi Gras fall three days in a row? I have had (1) pizza, (2) wings, (3) a majority share in about four different party-sized bags of chips, (4) dumplings, (5) noodles, and (6) pancakes in the last 72 hours.  I feel like this super nutritious line-up of February holidays could really only have been better if Valentine’s Day rounded it off today.  But it is this Sunday, so that’s pretty much just as good.  (And I already got a head start on the chocolate.  So we can add that as (7) on the list.)

I am generally of the mind that breakfast-in-bed needs no holiday, but in honor of V-Day, or Galentine’s Day, or just the weekend, this is just a little post to share a couple of breakfast-in-bed snaps from here and there:

  • A super easy poached pear baked oatmeal up on West Elm today!  It’s based on this oatmeal raisin cookie version from last winter, and it’s been my go-to all fall and winter, especially when I have leftover poached pears to use up.
  • Kabocha French toast from a few months back on Urban Outfitters (in case you still have errant frozen pumpkin in your freezer like I do?)
  • And just in case you’re feeling something savory, a bacon and cheese-stuffed French toast from the blog last year.

We haven’t made any plans for Sunday yet, but I’m mulling over making at least one of these.  Or all of these?  And then I will detox.

What are your plans this weekend?  B2 and I have a little bit of a hectic February ahead of us, so I’m taking a teensy blog-brb for the rest of this month.  If you like, I’ll still be on my slowly-less-foreign Snapchat at tworedbowls, or over at Instagram, but in the meantime — happy Year of the Monkey, and Mardi Gras, and Super Bowl hangover, and Valentine’s Day!  Hope you’re all staying warm and cozy in this late-winter stretch.  I’ll see you in a couple weeks in March!  (And then it’ll be almost spring!)

And how crazy is that every fun day is in one week…

Love this roundup of breakfast in bed (and your mermaid hair!). Enjoy your time off, see you in March! I personally can’t wait for flowers to bud and to start diving into all the floral infused goodies!!!!!!!!! Enough of this dreary gray weather in Boston!

I’ve never wanted to have breakfast in bed more! It has never really appealed…crumbs in bed and all that…but you made it look super classy and crumb-less.

Lovely pictures, you’ve managed to make breakfast in bed look so sophisticated! When I try it, I end up staining the duvet cover with coffee, because the puppy has decided to jump on my lap at that exact moment! I think I need to get a tray as well, or I usually find crumbs in the bed the following day!

I really need to work on my breakfast in bed 🙂

Have a sweet break, girlfriend! Very beautiful way to say be-right-back because this post has me feeling so cozy (and hungry) all around. I think I’ve only had like, one semi-breakfast-in-bed before and can’t wait to actually have a REAL one! But how does one go about that with a kid and especially when you’re the first to wake up?! 😉
