It’s real! Two years of reminiscing about favorite family recipes, making messes in the kitchen, running around during naptimes, washing (and washing, and washing) dishes, and a little bit of manic refreshing of online book listings, and A Common Table is all dressed up and out in the world wherever books are sold. I am still pinching myself.

This adventure has been equal parts scary, thrilling, surreal, and everything in between, and I could not be more excited to share this book with you in just a few weeks.  I wanted this collection of recipes to be a celebration of different cultures, the many commonalities they share that may not first meet the eye, and all the exciting things that can happen when they’re combined.  In keeping with that, there is a mix of classics, like my favorite Chinese scrambled eggs & tomatoes, glossy hong shao rou, and beef bulgogi, and new recipes, like sticky sesame peanut pie, American-south-meets-Chinese-south Shanghai-style baby back ribs, white peach & lychee upside-down cake, gireumjang steak, and more.  At its core, though, the book is just full of all the things we most love to eat, and it’s been tested and re-tested by a truly amazing group of you (thank you, thank you forever) so hopefully it will have lots of things that you’ll soon love to eat, too.

Most importantly, thank you so, so very much for being here over the last five (!) years.  This book is all thanks to you and your companionship, friendship, and support, and it would simply not exist without you.
