Can it really be 2019 already? We’ve spent our last week of 2018 on the couch or in the kitchen (or scattering toy trucks from one end of the house to the other, one guess as to who is doing what), thoroughly unwinding and nonstop eating and generally super enjoying ourselves, and I hope you have been too.
It’s two months of A Common Table giveaways! From now until December, I’ll be sharing a recipe from the cookbook here and holding a giveaway of one of my favorite kitchen treasures used in the book every week on Instagram, and you’ll have a week to enter before the winner is announced, along with a new giveaway.
When I was picking which recipe to share with you this week using the item in this week’s giveaway, I nearly couldn’t decide because I had so many choices. A Lodge cast iron skillet is the backbone of so many dishes in my kitchen–from perfect golden pancakes to the crispest-edged bindaetteok, gently browned grilled cheeses to steaks with the perfect crust, to soft, gooey cinnamon rolls–that I feel like it might be on every page. But with the weather cooling down and cozy vibes abounding, these eggs, warm and comforting with a subtle heat, ended up the only logical choice.
I’m back! It’s the Friday before A Common Table ventures out in the world, therefore (1) the last Friday to preorder, if you like, and (2) the first Friday of a ton of giveaways of some of my most favorite things in the book over the next two months! From now until December, I’ll be sharing a recipe from the cookbook and a giveaway every Friday here and on Instagram, and you’ll have a week to enter before the winner is announced, along with a new giveaway.
Hi friends! Just popping in to share a few cookbook-related tidbits now that there’s just one week (!!) to go until A Common Table is out in the world! It still doesn’t feel totally real, despite the whole box of copies that arrived last week for giveaways (more on that starting this Friday!) but in the meantime, here are some details on goodies for those of you who have preordered, plus details on a couple of events we’ll be having in the next few weeks should you be around and want to nosh on mochi together and talk about food. I would absolutely love to meet you! Thanks a million for all your kind words–I can’t wait to share the book with you in one short week.
Oh my goodness, we have a trailer! If you’ve been around for awhile, you might remember that it’s B2 who likes to tinker with video every now and again. This has been his recent labor of love, and I’m so excited to share it with you. There’s more coming about the book in the next few weeks, including some goodies for those of you who have preordered (thank you!) and details about a few events for any friends here in Los Angeles, but for now, hope you enjoy the baby footage as much as we do.
It’s real! Two years of reminiscing about favorite family recipes, making messes in the kitchen, running around during naptimes, washing (and washing, and washing) dishes, and a little bit of manic refreshing of online book listings, and A Common Table is all dressed up and out in the world for you to preorder wherever books are sold. I am still pinching myself.
where to buy:
I blinked and it’s been five months of this adventure called “writing a cookbook.” How! Before all this began I wasn’t sure how shooting and writing a book with a new babe would go. The answer is, as it turns out, a lot of running around during morning naptime, a lot of truly spectacular messes, and a lot of trudging around during afternoon naptime, cleaning up those spectacular messes. I would not recommend it if you are looking for something relaxing, exactly — but maybe if, you know, you’re looking for an at-home HIIT workout that involves bites of food and a constant mental refrain of I’ll clean that up later.
What with cross-country moves here and life changes there, I think you must be tired of me proclaiming “I have news!” all the time, but in the off chance you aren’t, I have just one more piece of news that I’m thrilled — and still a little in disbelief — to be sharing: There’s going to be a Two Red Bowls cookbook! It’s all still in the works, but here are some of the firm details: There will be a little more than 80 recipes, with a few of my very favorites from the blog and the rest new. It will come out sometime in the fall of 2018, published by Rodale. My dad will try to buy every copy.
